Stamp Simply #134 – Graduation (with alternates)

GRADUATION or YEAR END TREATS or ……  As our youngest son graduates from high school this year, I’ll be needing to make a ton of graduation cards.  With that in mind,  today’s challenge is to make a graduation card.  HOWEVER, I realize not everyone will need a grad card this year, so the ALTERNATE challenge is to make something to be used at the end of the school year — a note of thanks or treat for teacher or even treats for the kids on the last day of school.  NO students or teachers in your life?  Then make a card of congratulations or well wishes to someone ending or entering a new phase of their life — new job, retirement, move, etc.  We are easy here — LOL!!!  Just have fun!!!

And here’s my graduation card for today:

Most definitely a girlie grad card!  Our school colors are purple and gold and the class colors are purple and black.  I’ll go more traditional and formal for the guy cards, but just wanted to have some fun with the girls cards.  As I said, I’ll be needing to make a lot of these this year, so I kept it simple, relying on my *go to* gift card (or check) holder that I’ve been making for years.  I originally got the measurements from SCS.  Cut your paper 8.5 x 5.5″.  Score at 2″ and 6″.  Fold.  The 2″ flap is the bottom pocket and the 2.5″ flap is the top.  I then covered my fronts with SU DP — these were scraps leftover and I just can’t remember the name — sorry — I LOVED this DP!!!

I also kept my image and layering very simple.  I used a grad image and border from Favorite Occasions by JustRite.  It’s a fun set with simple little images to color and border sentiments covering 10 different occasions — it’s one of those sets that are just really handy to have on hand for quick, fun projects!  I have this set in stock for $15.95.  It fits the 1 5/8″ Stamper and will also work on the 2″ Stampers.  You can see the set on this page, scroll down.

My bow was done by making a bow of 1″ Sheer Black Ribbon on the Bow Easy (single bow, largest set of legs). Then I threaded the 3/8″ Black Dotted Sheer through a needle and ran it through my button, inserting my bigger bow in between there before I pulled the Dotted Sheer tight, so it’s all one, handy unit.  My Sheer Ribbon Sale runs through FridayYou can read about it  here.

Here’s a peek at the inside.  I like to use the Velcro Dots to keep my gift card closed.  The next grad cards I’ll make up will be guy cards, so if you are interested check back in.  I really DO need to start cranking some of these out for both girls and boys!

This is a really nice design! I have two “children” who will receive master’s degrees this December and I was looking for a classy idea. This is it! There is no online inspiration during the winter months for mid-year graduations and I can use their school colors and even their mascot. Do you know of anyone who sells GA Tech papers? I’ll probably design it myself with the JustRite graduation stamps.
    Thanks again,
    Nancy

I love this, how gorgeous is this? I want this paper too! Great design. You gave me an idea, to tip it as is on it’s end, with the ends open for a great card opening on the rh side. Is that just a tiny strip of dark paper? Gosh I wish you lived closer, you have such neat things. Anyone would be thrilled to receive this Sharon.
