Store News
This is the second item of business.
The Mirror Cardstock and Embossing Powder have been flying off the shelves and I am almost out on many of the color options – the silver will last a bit longer than the gold in both items. I do have more on order expected to arrive early next week. Typically when an item sells out, I remove it from the store until new stock arrives; however, since so many of you are wanting these items, even if I run out, I am going to leave them listed in the store with a notation that the item is sold out. Adding these items to your order, if you choose a sold out color, means your entire order will be held until these items arrive early next week. Right now I anticipate receipt of these items on Nov 1, for a Nov 2 mailing date, subject to vary by a day or two either way.

Finally, on to my project for today. I would be remiss if I didn’t include these gift card holders in our 12 Days of Christmas series. I make MANY of these each year at Christmas and at other times throughout the year as well. Actually, I’m a bit addicted to making these — I LOVE making them — they are so quick and easy and they serve such a useful purpose. I picked up the original idea with measurements from Splitcoast many years back and it was so easy to remember, I just kept making them!
Let’s start today with the most CAS:
You can put this together in just a couple minutes — truly, you can! The cardstock base is vanila or ivory and the designer paper is My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found Christmas 6×6.

Other than one single Rhinestone (Lippy Red) and a Velcro Dot (in clear) to close the holder, that’s it for supplies. Velcro Dots have long been my preference for closing projects of this type. They are very inexpensive, easy to apply, and they work all the time.
Here’s the inside. And here’s the how-to on this quick and easy project — this one was made a bit smaller, but you can change the scoring measurements to make it any size you like. I made this one in this size to work best with the sheet of paper I wanted to use for the focal image and also to give me a larger lip to apply my Velcro Dot as it has no focal image panel like on the one shown next.

Start with 1/2 sheet of cardstock – 8.5 x 5.5″

Score in from one end 1.5″

Score in from the other end at 3.25″

Once folded, this leaves you with a gift card holder that is 3.75 x 5.5″

Apply coordinating sheets of designer paper to the pocket front and top flap

Secure the pocket on each side with Scor Tape

Apply Velcro Dot for closure
This one appears a bit more fancied up, but in terms of the time it took — not much exrtra at all.
The paper I used here is the fun-loving Silly Season, a 6.5 x 6.5″ pad by Kaisercraft.
Since this paper has a bit of silvery glitz, I added a narrow piping strip of Mirror Cardstock in Silver. When I make my piping strips I always cut them 3/4″ wide. That’s wide enough to give me room to apply the tape and still leave 1/4″ or 1/8″ to show.
For my focal image panel, I used a scrap from the tree sheet, cut a square and matted it with the same mirror cardstock. Before adhering it to my gift holder top, I ran some 1/2′ Wrinkled Ribbon around the top flap, then adhered my panel and then tied my bow. I used Fuchsia ribbon here.

This size Gift Card Holder is a nice fit to insert into an A2 Clear Box.
Using a Score Board gives you crisp, professional folds. I use a Score Board on every card I make to score the center fold and making boxes with the use of a Score Board is a breeze. It’s also fun for straight line embossing. If you aren’t using a Score Board, I highly recommend adding one to your aresenal of tools! I carry boards in two sizes by both Scor-It and Scor-Pal. If you are not familiar with Score Boards, these two boards work differently. Here’s a post I wrote years ago discussing the differences.
