Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – White on White

Welcome to our regular Saturday feature of Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style

If you’d like to check out the previous uploads of this Saturday feature, they are linked on my left sidebar under Ribbon Inspiration, or you can just click here.

Today the Stamp Simply Designers were challenged to create a White on White project — LOVE that look! But they were given some options — their projects could be Ivory on Ivory or ANY super pastel shade as long as they kept the scheme monochromatic and light within the shade they chose. Personally, I can’t WAIT to see what they came up with!!!

Here’s my project for today:

I stepped away from Christmas cards today and made these cards suitable for weddings, Valentine’s Day or any  number of other occasions when you need something pretty.   These cards will be stored safely in Clear Boxes and be ready for my boys when needed – one has a wedding to go to soon and Valentine’s Day is pretty much just around the corner!

The paper used is SU Very Vanilla and Mirror Cardstock – Gold Silk.

This card is 5.5″ square and will go into the 5.5″ Square Clear Box both for protection until used and then for presenation.  When this card is ready to be used, I’ll wrap some more of the Champagne Silk in 1.25″ width around the Clear Box and it’ll be a little gift in itself, ready to give.

I used the Prima Amore Hearts on these cards. They come two in a pack, so I made two cards.  This pack was called Topaz.  They are SO pretty.  I then used 1/4″ Champagne Silk for a little bow accent.  It was a perfect match to the bottom little flowers.

Now one thing that isn’t showing real well here is the beautiful stamped butterfly in the center of the heart.  Can you see it?  It is SO pretty in real life and I just could not capture it accurately in a photo.  I’ll address later how it was stamped, but I did use JustRite’s new set, Botanical Butterflies.  It is a clear set that you can use with any acrylic blocks.

Bronze Kaisercraft Rhinstones were also used for an accent.

This card is standard A2 sized, 5.5 x 4.25″, fitting into the A2 Clear Box.  For this card I made the same sized Gold Silk matted square and wrapped 1.25″ Ivory Silk Ribbon around it.  I made my bow with the Bow Easy, left my tails a little long and then just adhered it to the panel, pulling my tails to the back.  A smaller bow using 1/4″ Silk was adhered to the Amore Heart.

All the Prima pretties can be seen here.   Such an easy way to dress up a project!

I think it’s a little easier to see the subtle stamped scrolly images on this card.  I stamped them using  JustRite’s new Fleur De Lis Labels Twenty cling mount stamp set.  These stamps also stick to any clear acrylic block.  I stamped one image on each of the 4 sides and it formed a nice border, very easily, just adding  a little subtle, tone on tone interest.  I used the Pearl color from the Metallics pack of Perfect Pearls, but many packages are available.

Now here’s how I got that really subtle, shiny look:

I used Perfect Pearls by Ranger.  All you need comes in a kit and I love that it does — everything is all together and supplied — can’t beat that.  Included is a small ink pad called Perfect Medium — it’s like a Versa Mark — same thing.  Stamp your image with the Perfect Medium.  Select the color of Perfect Pearls you want to use (4 colors are included in each pack) and using the small brush, brush the Perfect Pearls over your stamped image. You only need VERY little.  Once covered, take the larger brush and brush off your piece — cleaning it of all the excess powder is what you are doing.  Brush till it’s clean and only the stamped image has the pearly effect.

And these simple instructions are included on the back of  the package as well.

Next, using  a Mini Mister spray your project with water.  The mister is no larger than your index finger and it shoots out a super fine spray of water.  This sets the powder on your paper and when dried it is permanent. and won’t rub off.  SUPER easy.  (My small piece of paper curled a bit when wet, plus I was in a rush, so I helped it to dry by ironing it — place a sheet of printer paper on your ironing surface, turn the stamped sheet upside down on that sheet and iron the back for a very brief time.)

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Blog Candy

Here’s the Blog Candy offering this week — a huge bag full of white and ivory ribbon pulled from my scap bin.  And when I say scrap bin, they are from my scrap bin, not your normal scrap bin — LOL.  If I sell a ribbon in 3 yard lengths, and the last piece ends up being only 2 1/2 yards — into the scrap bin it goes — just so you know why such long pieces are in a scrap bin — LOL!!!  They truly are not scraps in the sense of the word.  And, coming straight from that bin, some pieces may be wrinkled and need ironing before use — my apologies — but think of the fun you’ll have sorting through it and getting it all nice, neat and organized.

This is a Mystery Blog Candy, meaning the winner will be drawn from comments on one of today’s participating blogs, so leaving a comment on each blog will greatly increase your chances of winning, but only one comment per blog, please. The winner will be selected at 6 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, November 15 and will be posted here on my blog on Wednesday, so please check back to claim your prize if you are the lucky winner! Good luck!
