Children’s Valentine Craft and a Winner!

Published by at 9 29 am under Craft Item,Prima,Valentines

Today I have an easy Valentine wreath to show you that I’ve prepared for our Sunday School students to do this Sunday as their craft project, but first let’s announce the winner of this past week’s Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style HOP.  The winner was chosen this week from Michelle’s blog, and random.org selected

Becky

and Becky said…Fabulous card, love the sentiment and design paper.

Congratulations to you, Becky.  Please contact me at [email protected] to claim your prize package of Ric Rac that can be seen on this post.

Thanks to Becky and to all who played along.  We love when you join us and leave your comments.  Thank you!

We invite you to join us each Saturday for our weekly design team challenge — Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.

I saw  a much more elaborate version of a wreath similar to this on Pinterest which originated from the Better Homes and Gardens website.  I thought I could turn it into an easy Valentine project for our Sunday School students to do.   This is the simplified sample I made up for them to follow:

I hope they enjoy doing it!  Everything will be pre-cut for them so all they have to do is glue and use some 3D Foam Squares for elevation and tie on the ribbon.  The  1/8″ Velvet is a nice size and texture for this project.  The paper I used is from Annalee by Prima.

I started by cutting a wreath shaped base of heavy cardstock using the largest circle Nestie I had and one a few sizes smaller.

Then I used my Classic Heart Nesties and cut hearts of various papers.  I used paper from the Annalee pad by Prima.

Then it is just a matter of using glue to adhere all the hearts, using 3D Foam Squares to attach the God is Love banner that was computer generated, then attaching a few smaller hearts that are popped up with the foam squares and tying on the ribbon hanger.  I also added Silver Rhinestones by Kaisercraft.

Here’s a closeup so you can see the elevation.

Here’s a view of the back so you can see what I mean when I said I used the two Nestie Circles to make my wreath shape.  The sentiment banner was cut on the paper cutter to 1/2″ wide and then I hand cut the ribbon tails.  You can see them better here than in the other photos.

All items used on this project are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Hi Sharon! Oh, this is adorable!! I love your project, the dsp your chose, the cute hearts, and the verse. I bet the kids will have fun with this one. I am going to keep this in my file for next year. Perhaps the girl scout troop could make this as well with a little different banner but definitely perfect for our Sunday School classes. Thanks so much for your inspiration and wonderful idea.
